EP2 exists to address the immediate and long-term needs of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Ethiopia. EP2 acknowledges the challenges faced by IDPs due to conflict, natural disasters, or other humanitarian crises. Therefore, the organization is committed to working closely with IDPs and related stakeholders to address their unique needs, including access to education, healthcare, shelter, and livelihood opportunities, thereby promoting their dignity, resilience, and integration into society.
EP2 aims to alleviate the human suffering of internally displaced persons in Ethiopia through leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and technological tools to assess and address the multifaceted needs of IDP sites. Through strategic partnerships, EP2 aims to connect resources, including partnering organizations and Churches, with the local communities in different parts of Ethiopia. The mission involves facilitating a holistic approach to aid, combining immediate relief efforts with long-term solutions fostering partnerships and support strategies to empower the affected communities.
EP2 envisions a future where every person displaced experiences restored dignity, resilience, and full integration into society. Supported by sustainable solutions, EP2 aims to achieve this vision through collaborative efforts with local Churches, fostering resilience, self-sustainability, and community empowerment, one family at a time.
The Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement puts it this way, internally displaced persons (also known as "IDPs") are "persons or groups of persons who have been forced or obliged to flee or to leave their homes or places of habitual residence, in particular as a result of or in order to avoid the effects of armed conflict, situations of generalized violence, violations of human rights or natural or human-made disasters, and who have not crossed an internationally recognized border."
